Maidenhead is a large town on the River Thames which grew rapidly following the opening of the railway. Brunel's Railway Bridge over the Thames (1½ miles from station) is famous for its flat arch, known locally as the Sounding Arch. The Thames Path is 1¼ miles from the station, the path is along roads in Maidenhead and it changes sides at the road bridge.
