Walmer's shingle beach is 1 mile from the station. On a clear day France can be seen from the beach. From Walmer Castle it is a 1¼ mile walk north along the coast to Deal Castle. Nearby Deal PlusBus tickets are valid within an extensive area including Walmer, Sandwich and Dover.

from a fortress to an elegant stately home. It is the official residence of the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports. Gardens. Tearoom.
Open Apr-Oct, Daily 1000-1700. Nov-Mar, SSu (also WThF in Mar) 1000-1600.
