Newark, also known as Newark-on-Trent, is a picturesque and historic town built where the Great North Road from London to York crossed the River Trent. Newark has two railway stations: Newark Northgate on the main line from London to Doncaster and Newark Castle on the Nottingham to Lincoln line. Newark Bus Station is ½ mile from Newark Castle station and ¾ mile from Newark Northgate station.

Southwell Minster is a cathedral in the picturesque market town of Southwell.
It has fine examples of Norman and early English architecture. Refectory. Admission free, donations welcome.

Southwell Minster is 2½ miles from Fiskerton.
This rural workhouse was built in 1824 and is one of the best preserved in England. It was designed to house
about 160 inmates who lived and worked there. The adjacent Firbeck Infirmary was added in 1871. Café and picnic area.
