The former 1940s home and veterinary surgery of author James Herriot (known in his books as
Skeldale House, Darrowby). Restored rooms include the dining room which doubled as an office, kitchen, dispensary and
basement air raid shelter. Veterinary instruments, Herriot memorabilia, Austin Seven car from TV series, garden,
foldyard and farrier's workshop.

The Museum is in the house where Thomas Lord, founder of Lord's Cricket Ground, was born in 1755.
Displays and exhibits cover local life and industry, including cricket memorabilia, farming equipment, furniture, costumes and toys.

The Cathedral, Market Place and Museums are near the Bus Station.

The imposing ruins of Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden are a World Heritage Site.
The Abbey was established in 1132 by Cistercian monks. The Studley Royal Water Garden was designed in the 18th century.
