Tisbury is a large village with some attractive stone buildings. The churchyard contains a remarkable yew tree which is 4000 years old.
Built as a lightly fortified and luxurious residence in the 14th century, Wardour Castle was badly
damaged in the Civil War. It was abandoned and became a romantic ruin incorporated into the grounds of the replacement
castle (not open to the public). Explore the castle rooms and grotto. Climb the tower stairs for good views.
Open Apr-Oct, Daily 1000-1700 (1600 Oct). Nov-Mar, SSu 1000-1600.
