The ornate 14th century gatehouse of Thornton Abbey was designed to show the wealth and power of one of the
richest Augustinian monasteries in England. It is an early example of large-scale building in brick. Explore the two floors of
the interior as well as the remains of the abbey itself and a display of site finds in the visitor centre.
