Melton Mowbray is a market town on the River Eye. Locally it is known as just 'Melton'. Markets are held on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
The museum is housed in the town's former Carnegie Library built in 1905. Displays cover local history including
the famous Stilton cheese and pork pie industries, and the history of fox hunting. Recreations of traditional shops. Paintings by the
sporting artist John Ferneley. Exhibitions and events programme. Admission free but there may be a charge for events.
