Eling Tide Mill and Heritage Centre ½ mile

A restored and working water mill that uses the power of the tide. Heritage Centre with information on operation of the mill and local history. Milling times are determined by the tide. Café. Events programme.

Lower Test Marshes Nature Reserve ½ mile

A variety of coastal and wetland habitats on the River Test at the head of Southampton Water. The reserve attracts large numbers of feeding wildfowl such as wigeon and teal, and supports many wildflowers including orchids. The Test Way path passes through the reserve. Admission free.
Open at all times but check tide times as some paths and boardwalks flood at high tide.

Testwood Lakes Nature Reserve 2 miles

A mixture of open water, grassland and wet woodland forming part of the Test Valley floodplain. The lakes support large numbers of overwintering wildfowl and waders which can be seen from viewing screens and hides. The grassland is rich with wildflowers in summer. Visitor Centre with leaflets and activity sheets. Admission free.
Open Reserve open at all times (hides 1000-1600). Visitor Centre M-F 0900-1600, Sun 1300-1500, but may be closed for educational use.

Paultons Theme Park and Peppa Pig World by bus

A family theme park with many rides and attractions including Peppa Pig World. Gardens. Restaurant, café and food kiosks. Events programme.

Exbury Gardens by bus then 1¾ miles

The Gardens are famous for rhododendrons, azaleas and camellias. Other highlights include herbaceous borders, rare trees and shrubs, irises and water gardens. Riverside walk with views of Beaulieu River. 12¼" gauge steam railway. Adventure play area. Tearoom.

Bus 9 from Rushington Roundabout (¾ mile from station) to Blackfield Crossroads, then 1¾ miles walk. 35-40 minutes journey, M-S every 20 minutes, Sun & BH every 30 minutes. Also bus 8 from Station (and Rushington Roundabout), 50 minutes journey, M-S hourly. Operated by Bluestar. These buses also operate from Southampton Central. In summer New Forest Tour buses operate from Brockenhurst and Lymington to Exbury Gardens.

Calshot Castle EH by bus then 1 mile

Calshot Castle is a Tudor artillery fort built to defend the sea passage to Southampton. More recently it was used as a Navy and RAF base. Extensive views of the Solent from the top of the keep.
