Woodham Fen Nature Reserve ½ mile

Divided by the railway line, the Reserve is saltmarsh to the south with a natural transition to rough grassland and this supports an interesting range of species including lizards, butterflies, birds and saltmarsh plants. Admission free.
Open at all times, best visited Apr-Jul.

Marsh Farm Animal Adventure Park 1½ miles

A farmyard animal adventure park for young children. Indoor and outdoor play areas. Refreshments. Events Programme.
Open Daily 1000-1700.

Marsh Farm Country Park 1¾ miles

There are scenic views over the River Crouch and Country Park from the footpaths around the grazing marshes. It is also a good place to see wetland birds. Refreshments (SSu only) at car park. Admission free.

Hyde Hall RHS Garden 2¾ miles

Gardens of the Royal Horticultural Society with a variety of traditional and modern styles. Highlights include the Dry Garden with drought resistant plants and the Hilltop Garden with roses and herbaceous borders. Children's play area. Café and picnic areas.
Open Daily 1000-1800 (closes 1630 Nov-Feb).
There are buses to Hyde Hall from Battlesbridge, Chelmsford and Rayleigh.
