East Durham Heritage & Lifeboat Centre ¾ mile

Displays relate to the maritime, industrial and social history of the East Durham. The highligh is Seaham's historic George Elmy Lifeboat which suffered a terrible disaster at sea in 1962 when 9 people lost their lives.

Durham Heritage Coast ¾ mile to coast path

County Durham's coastline has evolved from its industrial past to become a haven for wildlife. There are great views from the cliff top paths and several wooded ravines add variety where streams have eroded the soft magnesian limestone. The Heritage Coast stretches from north of Seaham to Horden and Hartlepool. Parts of the coastline are cared for by the National Trust.
