Paxton Pits Nature Reserve 2½ miles

Created from disused gravel pits, the area has a variety of habitats including lakes, riverside, meadows, reedbed, scrub and woodland. The Reserve is noted for its nightingales and cormorants but there is a wide variety of other wildlife to be seen. Bird-watching hides. Visitor Centre with information, refreshments and toilets. Admission free.
