Shaw's Corner NT by bus then 1¼ miles

This Edwardian villa was the country home of the playwright George Bernard Shaw for 44 years. It remains much as he left it with Arts and Crafts interiors and peaceful gardens.

Bus 44/45 from station entrance to Codicote Bottom where the bus turns left after Kimpton, there is no marked stop. Then walk 1¼ miles uphill to the village of Ayot St Lawrence. M-S only, infrequent, about 20 minutes journey. Buses return to the station entrance. Operated by Centrebus. The bus also operates from Knebworth and Stevenage.

Knebworth House, Gardens and Park by bus

Originally a Tudor manor house, Knebworth was transformed by the spectacular High Gothic decoration of the Victorian romantic novelist, Edward Bulwer-Lytton. Objects on display reflect the family's Vice Regal time in India and visits by characters such as Charles Dickens, Winston Churchill and Noel Gallagher. The formal gardens surrounding the house include a Gertrude Jekyll Herb Garden and a maze. The Wilderness Garden includes life-size replica dinosaurs. Knebworth House is 1½ miles from Knebworth station.
Note: Entry to the Park is by public footpath and visitors should stay on this path to the kiosk near the church where tickets can be purchased. Visitors without a ticket must remain on the public footpath and not stray elsewhere in the Park.
