Ascott NT 2 miles or by bus

Ascott House is half-timbered and dates from the 16th century. It was transformed by the Rothschilds and houses paintings, fine furniture and oriental porcelain. The extensive gardens are a mix of formal and natural areas. Tearoom. Tel. 01296 688242.

Leighton Buzzard Railway 1½ miles or by bus

A narrow gauge steam railway built to transport sand, now carrying passengers about 3 miles from Page's Park to Stonehenge Works in the Bedfordshire countryside. Events programme. Café. Tel. 01525 373888.
