The rock and sand beach at Birchington-on-Sea is ¼ mile from the station.
The Powell-Cotton Museum contains spectacular dioramas of African and Asian animals in
their natural habitats. Other items include firearms, porcelain and local archaeological finds.

An internationally important wetland reserve bordered by the River Great Stour with the largest
reedbed in south east England. It is a great birdwatching site and there are several hides along the
4 mile circular trail.

Bus 8/8A/8X from Birchington Square (½ mile from station) to Upstreet Post Office, 13 minutes journey, M-S every 15 minutes, Sun & BH ½-hourly. Operated by Stagecoach. Buses also operate from Sturry or you can walk 3½ miles from Sturry to the western end of Stodmarsh.
