Hockley Woods are the largest remaining area of the wildwood which covered much of Essex after the Ice Age 10,000 years ago.
The woodland is a Nature Reserve with a wide variety of tree species and many plants which only grow in the undisturbed soils of ancient woodland.
Bluebells can be seen in late spring. Admission free.
