Bateman's NT 3 miles

Rudyard Kipling's home from 1902 to 1936. Most of the rooms in this 17th century house are much as Kipling left them. Kipling's 1928 Rolls Royce. Watermill which grinds corn most Wed and Sat at 1400. Tearoom and picnic area.

Buses operate from Etchingham and Uckfield to Burwash.

The pleasant 3 miles walk from Stonegate station is through picturesque countryside and mostly traffic free. The route is gently uphill approaching Burwash then a short but steeper descent to Bateman's. After wet weather bear in mind that the paths across fields may become very muddy.
